Cool Weather & Arizona Summers??

It seems to me that when people think Arizona they think desert, cactus, snakes, and unbearable heat!! Well for the many parts of the state that might not be too far off the truth.  But I'm here to let you know this is not always the case.

This past weekend for instance we, here in Kingman, Az had highs in the 70's and even a little bit of  rain.  Just enough to bring the temperatures to a chilly temperature.  I personally spent the weekend in Flagstaff where I was attending a wedding for two of my good friends.  Surprisingly the temperatures up in high country hardly reached into the low 60's.

While there are parts of Arizona that regularly see the thermometer reach up to 120 degrees its nice to know that I will not have to deal with that.  Arizona has such a diverse array of cities, all of which have there pros and cons.  The elevation here in Kingman is right around 3300 ft allowing for all four seasons to be enjoyed.  The summers rarely hit triple digits and the winters are certainly bearable.  Flagstaff on the other hand has an elevation of near 7,000 feet and the San Francisco Peaks are home to Snowbowl witch is one of the few ski resorts in Arizona.  And this is located only 140 miles East of Kingman.  Then you drive another 140 miles south of Flagstaff to Phoenix and your summers are spent looking for the nearest pool to help you cope with the temperatures in excess of 110 degrees.

Its amazing to me that such short jaunts can leave you dealing with such extreme temperature changes.  This is just one of the many reasons why Kingman is considered to be such a great location in respect to what is around the state.
